They preface by saying…
“I’m not a conspiracy theorist”
As if to draw a moral and rational line in the sand. But really it’s intellectual dishonesty and laziness. It’s an impediment to one’s reasoning.
It’s neither morally nor rationally based.
It’s a pejorative term
The term is intended to dismiss the claims of a person or a group based on preconceived notions. Also known as prejudice..
It’s an ad hominem attack
An argument which attacks the character of the person is a logical fallacy, which is not a rationally based argument. It’s name calling.
A lot of people ridicule anti-vaxxers as half baked tin foil hat wearing conspiracy nuts who regurgitate baseless claims found surfing YouTube on the toilet inbetween binges of trekkie porn.
Of course in reality many so called ant-vaxxers are well educated, reasonable, contributing members of society, who have made informed decisions.
Well I Believe in Science
So called belief in science has nothing to do with science. The beauty of science is that belief is not required. Simply saying “I believe in science” without actually doing science makes one an outsider. You can’t invoke science if you don’t do science. Affirming one’s belief in science does not refute a claim or serve as an argument.
The Burden of Proof
The mainstream narrative leaves many truths unspoken or lied about by its purveyors of information. Information not found there is not easily acquired or accepted. But it is easily dismissed through logical fallacy. One such logical fallacy is the appeal to consensus fallacy, which is the belief in something based on what most people think.
Most people probably never heard of The Tuskegee Prison Experiments. They might even call you a conspiracy theorist if you tell them that the U.S. government knowingly let Black prison inmates suffer with syphilis in order to be observed as lab rats; even though, the government has long since came out and acknowledged it as fact.
To this day Dr. Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.’s family maintains that his convicted killer James Earl Ray was set up and framed by the FBI. The Kings showed Ray support until he died in prison. Are the Kings baseless conspiracy theorists?
Will They Microchip Us?
Do I think the government will attempt to implant microchips in all of us under the guise of a covid test and/or a vaccine? Well I’m not a conspiracy theorist; but, If you look at the way the Chinese government levers technology as a means of control, with the likes of facial recognition software, and, censorship of expression online, one can easily draw parallels to emerging trends in the western world. And because I believe in science I know it’s possible. Yesterday’s science fiction is today’s science. Prepare to be assimilated.
